Don’t take our word for it; listen to what our students have to say. In a recent housing survey, here are some responses to the questions, “what do you like best about living in your community?” and, “why did you choose to live on campus this year?”
On the hassles of living off-campus: I don’t have to worry about the stress of renting or dealing with a landlord.” & “I will be studying abroad during the spring semester and didn’t want the extra pressure of finding someone to sublease an off campus residence while I’m gone.
On respect in the halls: Everyone is really friendly and gathers together at times, but they are also very respectful of the appropriate times to be quiet.
On our staff: My RA… is phenomenal, makes me feel welcome, lays down rules effectively, and manages the hall well without seeming out of touch.
On events & activities: I love living in my community, because we’re all very close and it’s incredibly easy to make friends. There’s always something going on, so there’s never a dull moment.
On RLPs: I like living with members of my Residential Learning Program and the energy that comes with being with people who are going through the same experience.
On Community Enhancements: I like that our community office offers so many things that you can easily check out with your One Card – movies, vacuum cleaners, etc.
On the Roommate Match: The roommate match on the housing site doe a good job getting you someone you will be compatible with. So far, out of the 2 roommates I have had, both have been perfect matches and have made rooming here a lovely experience.
On cleanliness: I love our Housekeeping Staff, they do an incredible job of keeping the place clean.
On making friends: Everyone is so friendly and inclusive. I know that I can always find something fun to do with my suitemates… or friends from my hall.
On the location: The location is ideal in relation to classes and on-campus activities.
On the convenience: I like being able to have easy access to anything on campus without having to drive back and forth.
On the experience: It really is a community, because as each UNC day goes by, I feel as if I get closer and closer to my fellow Tar Heels.
