Welcome to the UNC Package Centers! My name is Gina, and I am the manager at the Spencer Package Center. Whether you are a first-year student or a returning on-campus resident, I have some essential tips to help you navigate the process of sending and receiving packages and mail. Here’s everything you need to know to ensure a smooth experience.
Addressing Your Packages
When sending packages to the UNC Package Centers, it’s crucial to include all the necessary information. Make sure your package is addressed with:
• Your full address, including the street address and room number.
• Your first and last name.
Having all this information is essential because we have many on-campus residents, and there can be duplicate names, even within the same building. Including your room number ensures that you receive the correct package.
Picking Up Your Packages
After your package arrives at the UNC Package Center, you will receive an email notification. If you haven’t received this email yet, your package isn’t ready for pick-up. We handle hundreds of packages at a time and need to check each one into the respective student’s account, which can take some time.
Once you receive the email notification, come to the Package Center with a valid form of ID. This can be a One Card, driver’s license, passport, or any photo ID. Both digital and physical One Cards are accepted.
Sending Outgoing Mail
The UNC Package Centers also accept outgoing mail, but we do not sell postage. If you need to buy stamps, postage labels, or boxes, visit the post office on the third floor of the student store. However, if you already have purchased postage or have a letter with a stamp, we can accept it.
Carriers like the Post Office, UPS, and FedEx come to the Package Center daily to pick up outgoing mail. If you have a prepaid shipping label, such as for an Amazon return, attach it to your box and bring it to us. Your package will go out the following business day.
