Gina Flow: Spencer Package Center Manager
We also heard from Gina; she is the manager at the Spencer Package Center. Gina talks about the importance of mailing your package correctly.
When sending packages to the UNC Package Centers, it is crucial to include all the necessary information.
Make sure your package is addressed with:
• Your full address, including the street address and room number.
• Your first and last name.
Having all this information is essential because we have many on-campus residents, and there can be duplicate names, even within the same building. Including your room number ensures that you receive the correct package.
Jordan Cady: Assistant Director for Community Engagement
Next, Jordan Cady gave us some essential tips for Carolina Housing assignments. One of the most important things to keep in mind is your priority deadlines. Carolina Housing runs various housing processes throughout the year, including returning room selection, first-year assignments, summer housing, and sometimes even winter break housing. Each of these processes comes with its own priority deadline.
We communicate all housing-related information via your UNC email. This includes move-in and move-out details, opportunities for room reassignment, and closure notices. It is essential to regularly check your UNC email to stay informed and avoid missing important updates. While we do offer a newsletter for parents, all official communications are directed to your UNC email.
Jordan Jackson: Assistant Director for Community Engagement
Jordan Jackson tells us about Tar Heel Talks, throughout the year, you will have opportunities for one-on-one Tar Heel Talks with your RA. These sessions are designed to address any challenges you might face and provide you with the necessary support to navigate student life effectively.
Your RA and community directors will keep you informed about these and other engagement opportunities, so keep an eye out for their communications.
Phil Young: Director of ResNET
Finally, we heard from Phil Young, he told us all about technology services and what to do if you are having connectivity issues. If you ever find yourself facing technology issues, we have you covered. The easiest way to get help is by visiting help.unc.edu.
Here, you can access a variety of support options, including chat, phone, and email. We also offer a knowledge base where you can find solutions to common problems and even troubleshoot issues on your own.
Thank you so much for coming along with me as we learned from the experts at Carolina Housing! Do not forget to check out Carolina Housing’s blog and social media for more information. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out, we are eager to help!
