Craige is one of the oldest communities on campus. Named for North Carolina lawyer and politician Burton Craige, this high-rise community was built in 1962 and was remodeled over the summer of 2012. Craige’s landmark bridge from Manning Drive to the front entrance makes it unique from the other communities on South Campus and has become a great spot to gather with friends.

Craige community is located near all of the South Campus hotspots, including the Dean Smith Center, Student and Academic Services Buildings, Rams Head facilities (dining, market and Subway, and gym), and optimal bus routes.

Whether you enjoy studying or socializing, or a bit of both, there is a spot for you here in Craige. The Carolina Gaming Arena, or CGA, is located in Craige Hall and features 36 high-end PC stations and over 10 gaming consoles. Students can reserve game time and connect with the gaming community by visiting the CGA website at carolinagaming.unc.edu. Whether your a novice gamer or a pro gamer, you can find the CGA is welcoming to gamers of all skill level.

During the spring semester, join residents and staff for the annual Craige Rave (CRAVE) and the South Campus Beach Blast, sure to be a good time for all!

What Tar Heels are Saying

“Craige has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere full of first-year students who are eager to take on anything.”

– Antoinette, Craige resident
