Completed in 2002, this residence hall bears the name of Paul Hardin, university chancellor from 1988 to 1995. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Hardin graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University in 1952 and then first in his class in its law school. After serving in the U.S. Army’s counterintelligence unit, he worked as a lawyer. He taught at Duke Law School before embarking on a career as a university president.
