International Students

Congratulations on choosing Carolina! We are so excited to have you join our Tar Heel family and would love to have you live on campus!

Here you'll find information on housing options, campus resources, cancelation procedures and more! The information below applies explicitly to international students.

Where Can I Live On Campus?

As an international student, you have several options. All of our halls and apartments have something different to offer.

Our residence halls and Ram Village allow you to enjoy the more traditional on-campus living experience, while Baity Hill is an excellent choice if you are a graduate student or a student who will be bringing his/her family. You may also opt to live at Granville Towers, our partner in campus housing.

Visit our Housing section to get details on our residence halls, Ram Village and Baity Hill. Visit Granville Towers and Carolina Housing for more information on Granville Towers.

How Do I Apply For Housing?

  • For residence halls/Ram Village/Baity Hill: Once you are admitted to UNC, you will be able to fill out an application at the Housing Portal at myhousing.unc.edu. You do need an ONYEN in order to use this system, so contact your UNC Study Abroad Office if you need help retrieving that.
  • For Granville Towers: You can apply through the Granville Towers website at http://www.granvilletowers.com/.

When Do I Receive My Housing Assignment?

On-campus housing assignments are issued as space is available.

For those living on-campus: You will receive notification of your room assignment via email or letter from the Exchange or Study Abroad office. A move-in schedule is provided in your assignment email to let you know when you check in to your room. Check-in is held at the Community Office for your assigned community.

How Do I Find My Residence Hall/Suite/Apartment?

For residence halls/Ram Village/Baity Hill: Visit our What's My Address page to get the physical address for your particular hall. Our Housing section also offers detailed on-campus maps.

*If you are living at Baity Hill and have questions about where to go, contact them by emailing baityhill@unc.edu or by calling 919-962-8190.

Your hall’s registration site may be different than the hall you are going to live in. This chart will tell you where to register:
