Internet Access

Getting Connected

The instructions for connecting to the campus network can be found at http://help.unc.edu. The ResNET staff living in your community can also help you connect to the internet. See below for details about how to request technical support.

Wired Internet

All residence hall rooms are wired with one Ethernet network connection per room.

Wireless Internet

Wireless network access (Wi-Fi) is available in public areas of residence halls. This map of Wireless Network Access Points for residence halls will help you know where the signal will be strongest. Currently, a wireless signal is not guaranteed within your room.

In the summer of 2013 we will begin the process of installing wireless network access in all student rooms. This will be an ongoing process as we work our way through campus and make the necessary modifications to the buildings. We will keep residents informed via email as this project evolves. For more details on this project and a timeline, visit http://help.unc.edu/wifi.
