Living-Learning Communities
Carolina’s Living-Learning Communities (LLC) give students a unique, inclusive residential learning experience that connects classroom learning with residence life. Students enjoy all the usual advantages of living on campus in a residence hall, with the added benefit of living among a group that shares academic goals and interests.
Through student, faculty and staff partnerships, and educational and cultural programs, active involvement in a Living-Learning community allows you to broaden your perspectives and understanding of the world around you. This holistic approach complements classroom experiences and lays the foundation for you to become better prepared to succeed in life beyond college.

Chinese House |
The mission of the Chinese House Living-Learning Community is to offer UNC students the opportunity to pursue their interests in a foreign language and culture beyond the classroom. By pursuing these interests and promoting similar interest in other students, they will help foster a spirit of curiosity and tolerance that will enhance the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s respect for multiculturalism. |

Service & Leadership |
The Service & Leadership LIving-Learning Community (S&L) is an initiative of the Department of Housing and Residential Education at UNC-Chapel Hill in partnership with APPLES and Carolina Leadership Development. We strive to promote a vibrant community of socially conscious individuals focused on developing exemplary leadership skills through academic-, service-, social-, and community-based experiences. Our aim is to enhance the residential and academic experience of students who select to be a part of our unique community and our spring semester course. |

La Casa is a community of students dedicated to improving the Spanish language skills and exploring the Latina/o culture. To that end, we challenge each other to maintain an environment of immersion and cooperative learning. Community members attend social, cultural and community service events that build friendships, new cultural understanding, and language skills. |

The goal of this Living-Learning Community is to promote a holistic view of health and reach beyond the traditional view of substance-free living. The experiences offered in this community facilitate healthier lifestyles in all facets of your wellbeing not only here at Carolina but also after you leave our community. |

Sustainability |
Welcome to the Sustainability Living Learning Community! Our community is committed to exploring the concept of sustainability and engaging in sustainable service. Brief Overview: While sustainability has its roots in the environmental movement, we examine sustainability as a concept in many areas in addition to the environment, including: activism, creativity, development, economy, education, personal, politics, and the justice system. |

SYNC: Sophomore Year Navigating Carolina |
SYNC is a Living-Learning community committed to the personal and academic success of sophomores at Carolina. The program encourages collaborative learning, leadership development, major and career exploration and engagement in academic opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. |
