The Department of Housing and Residential Education is committed to the growth and development of its staff members in the areas of multicultural competence. During the Fall of 2013, the Equity and Inclusion Professional Development Plan was launched, serving as a guide for each staff member to engage with their supervisor on a development plan as it relates to diversity-related issues and competency. This plan involves staff members attending or participating in various diversity experiences and reflecting on its application to their role and professional development.
Staff members and students across campus are also encouraged to "Rethink Your Role." The concept of “ReThink Your Role” challenges individuals to think about their role as a community member from a multicultural perspective. Regardless of our role on campus we have the ability to impact others through self-accountability, peer interactions and the decisions we make.
