It was impressive to see so much interest in the community governor position, but there of course can only be one governor. After both the general and the run-off election, Cody Rusher from the 2nd floor of Koury was our elected winner. Please join me in congratulating him on his victory. The next step with our community government is to select an executive board to serve with Cody. This includes four specific positions and plenty of open spaces for floor representatives. These are the positions and their responsibilities: Vice Governor for Programming: This representative is responsible for the development and organization of social, educational and service events for the Manning East community. They also oversee the involvement of the floor representatives and serve in the capacity of the Governor if Cody is unavailable. Treasurer: Responsibility in this position focuses on the government's budget and reconciliation of purchases. The meet monthly with the Communtiy Director to review the budget and develop a plan for responsible spending. Secretary: This person serves as the historian of the organization, both in taking minutes during meetings and documenting events throughout the year. They work with the governor to document all activities and processes to pass on to future community governments. Enhancements Chair: This representative is responsible for the collecting of requests for new small (DVDs, cooking equipment, etc...) and large (televisions, game tables) enhancements, as well as following through on their acquisition. They work closely with the treasurer to manage responsible spending. Floor Representatives: All students serving as floor reps are welcome to attend meetings, participate in the planning and facilitation of community events, put forth recommendations for additional enhancements and serve as the voice for other students on your floor. Applications for these positions will be released soon and there will be an interest session later next week to gather interest and answer individual questions. Presence at the meeting will be highly recommended. |
