Convince your friends to live on campus and win a $1,500+ prize package! 

Our referral program helps us to determine the champions of on-campus housing and reward them for it! Participating is easy. Convince your friends to live on campus, then tell them to enter your Selection Entry ID (found in an email sent from housing@unc.edu) into the "Referral" box on their Housing Application. The name with the most submissions wins! Please note that even if you've already submitted an application, you can always log back in to the portal and add additional ID numbers later on in the process. The contest will run from October 26 - November 20 at 11:59 pm. Participants will be notified between November 21-22 and will the grand prize winner will select their Top Lottery Pick space on November 28.

  • GRAND PRIZE: One (1) winner will receive a complete entertainment center, including a 32" Smart TV, a Nintendo Wii, a BlueRay player, and a Sound Bar, PLUS a second and third place prize PLUS a Top Lottery Pick! Value: $1,500+
  • Second Place: Three (3) winners will receive a 7' Relax Sack! Value: $400
  • Third Place: Five (5) winners will receive a Keurig K10 MINI! Value: $100

RULES:

1. If we cannot link the Selection Entry ID to a current student, the submission will not count.

2. Should the number of referrals come to a tie, the winner will be randomly selected from the 2 (or more) tied students. 

3. Only current students who will be living on campus in the 2017 Fall semester may win.

4. Prizes will be awarded during the first month of classes of the 2017 Fall semester.  

Pick your housing before the rest of campus!

This year, in addition to the grand prize winner of the referral contest, 16 other lucky students will get the chance to select their housing for next year before the Housing Selection Process opens up to the rest of campus. Below are the many ways you can enter to win. You may enter as many of these as you like!

  • Submit a photo to the Facebook Photo Contest - 3 winners
    
Entries due by November 13 at 11:59 pm. See link for details and contest rules. 
  • Vote on photos in the Facebook Photo Contest - 1 winner (randomly selected)
    
Vote by November 20 at 11:59 pm.
  • Attend the DTH Housing Fair on October 26 in the Union Great Hall and enter our raffle - 3 winners (randomly selected)
    You don't have to be present for the drawing to win.
  • Submit a blog topic to the Housing blog by November 20 at 11:59 pm - 1 winner (randomly selected)
  • Attend the Men’s Basketball game on November 15 vs. Long Beach State at 8:00 pm and enter our raffle – 1 winner (randomly selected)
  • Attend the Football game on November 19 vs. the Citadel and enter our raffle – 1 winner (randomly selected)
  • Participate in our #heelshearthousing Instagram Contest (details below) – 3 winners
  • Participate in our Twitter Contest (details below) – 3 winners

IMPORTANT NOTE: First-year or incoming transfer students are not eligible to win a Top Lottery Pick, because new students do not select their own housing. These Top Lottery Pick prizes are limited to students who are enrolled at UNC during the Spring 2016 semester. 

Instagram Contest Rules

Please take a fun or creative photo that showcases your on-campus room, suite or apartment and upload it to your Instagram account. You mut tag @unchousing and use the hashtag #heelshearthousing to win. You also have to be following our account to win. Our Carolina Housing marketing team will select three winners, taking into account the most-liked posts within the Instagram community. There is no limit to the number of entries per person, however, keep in mind that the contest is won based on quality, not quantity. The contest will run from October 26 - November 20 at 11:59 pm. Participants will be notified between November 21-22 and will select a space on November 28.

Remember these rules while submitting entries: 
1. Only enter if you live in an on-campus residence hall, or plan to live on campus during the Fall 2017 semester. 
2. Don’t send us pictures of people violating the Community Living Standards. It’s just not cool, and the photos won’t be included in the contest.
3. If you submit a picture, you agree to let UNC Housing use it for print and electronic publications. But honestly, who doesn't want to be famous? 
4. Only the person who submits the picture can be declared a winner, even if you have friends in your photo. 
5. All questionable behavior and actions during contest participation are subject to review by Department of Housing and Residential Education Staff and we reserve the right to disqualify a contestant at any time. 
6. Your account has to be public in order to participate (and in order for us to view your post).  

Twitter Contest Rules

Please tell us in 140 characters or less what you love about living on campus at Carolina! The more creative the tweets, the better! You must use the hashtag #uncreslife in your tweet to win. You also have to be following our account to win (@unchousing). Our Carolina Housing marketing team will select three winners, taking into account the most-liked and re-tweeted posts within the Twitter community. There is no limit to the number of entries per person, however, keep in mind that the contest is won based on quality, not quantity. The contest will run from October 26 - November 20 at 11:59 pm. Participants will be notified between November 21-22 and will select a space on November 28.
