Changes to Housing Selection 2017-2018

Room Selection Process

Room selection will begin on Tuesday, November 29, and will conclude on Thursday, December 1. Students will be assigned a room selection window based on their academic classification (Senior, Junior, Sophomore, and First Year). During an assigned room selection window, students will be able to select from any of the available spaces on campus. If students cannot find an apartment or suite for their roommate group, they can choose to split the group up and select multiple adjoining rooms in a North Campus residence hall.

RLP Changes

  • Chinese House will move to Craige North and fall under the Global Scholars House umbrella
  • The UNITAS RLP will be placed on hiatus for 2017-18. Look for a new social justice community in 2018-19.
  • New RLPs for 2017-18: Blue Innovation in Carmichael, Global Scholars House in Craige North, and Chancellors Science Scholars in Aycock-Graham

First-Year Students on North Campus

Effective Fall 2017, First-Year students on North Campus will be housed in the Lower Quad Community (Aycock, Graham, Everett, Lewis, and Stacy).

Upper Class Students on South Campus

The Manning West Community comprised of Craige North and Hardin halls will now house upper class students.

Room Consolidation

Throughout the room selection process, a number of apartments and suites will only partially be filled. In order to maximize the number of roommate pairings, housing staff will consolidate spaces to open up as many completely vacant apartments and suites as possible. Students will be emailed if they were reassigned through room consolidation. Please read the room consolidation and guidelines below.

Guidelines

  • Students will only be consolidated to the same room type, and within the same building.
  • Students who have recontracted to stay in the same assignment, will not be consolidated.
  • Roommate groups will not be broken up.
